Have you heard about the Elf on the Shelf?

It’s a holiday game/tradition that stars a “Scout Elf.”  The Scout is dispatched to childrens homes and every night he/she reports back to Santa Claus.  He can report if the children have been good or bad and what secret presents they might have asked for.  The Elf returns early in the morning to a new hiding place for the children to find.  This goes on until Christmas Eve when the Elf returns to the North Pole until the holidays return.

Super cute, huh?!

I think I saw the Elf on the Shelf for the first time last year (it’s probably been around longer…I’m not sure).  I think it was to close to Christmas to bother getting one for the boys so I waited until this year.  Well, our Elf arrived today!

Our Elf arrived in a box stamped with many National Stamps (as if it had been around the World) and a message on the front of the box from Santa (that I personalized when I ordered).  Inside was a beautiful Christmas tree box that contained the story book and Elf.

The hardbound book tells the story of your Elf and the one rule:  No touching (takes away the magic).

The boys LOVE their Elf!

Anthony has spent the afternoon showing him baby pictures and teaching him how to play the Wii.  He even built him a Lego house and told him that when he comes back tomorrow maybe he’ll think about hiding in there.  SWEET!  It has been a lot of fun to watch him interact with his new elf friend.

Oh, and the first order of business was to name him…

Jack Andrew Smitty

Isn’t that the best name ever for one of Santa’s Scout Elf’s?

Note:  This is not a paid/sponsored post for Elf on the Shelf.  I really went and bought it with my own money for my boys because I thought it was an adorable idea and I wanted to start this Christmas Tradition with my family.  I might post more on it if something comes up.
