This week I’ve pretty much followed the suggested training schedule put out by The 3 Day trainers.  I walked 3 miles on Tuesday and 3.5 on Thursday.  I found this groovy little website called Daily Mile that is helping me track my mileage. I was really tickled with myself that I’ve walked a total of 30 miles so far.  If you use Daily Mile, then add me as a friend so we can encourage each other.

I’m supposed to go on another 5 mile walk today but we have July 4th plans at my Aunts house tonight.  So instead I’ll do my 5 mile route tomorrow morning.  I accessed the share lists on The 3 Day website to find some other participants in my area.  I was lucky to find a few and I hope to be able to start training with them soon.  While I have really loved my walks, even by myself, the company makes it go by so much faster.

Some other fun news is that I’ve started training in my new KEEN Whisper hiking sandals.

I have always preferred sandals over tennis shoes.  I had heard stories of others actually doing the 60 miles in hiking sandals, so I decided to give it a try.  I will say that these sandals are really, really comfortable.  I only wish I hadn’t wore them two days in a row for a long period of time.  As with any pair of new shoes…I have a few blisters.  But it’s all good.  My feet are toughening up and I’ll need the callouses to get through the whole 3 days.  I’ll let you know how they are holding up and do an official “review” after I get an opinion.  I am very optimistic that these are going to be awesome!

There you have it.  My weekly training update.  Be sure to tune in next week because I have some really really really exciting news to share with you!  Yep, it’s that good.  Don’t miss it.  And if you haven’t bought a ribbon for my shirt yet, then please do.  It’s so important that we don’t forget what all this walking is about:  raising funds to end breast cancer.  Thanks!
