If you did not come, then you missed out!  We had a table full of goodies.  I thought we would not have enough, but we ended up with a ton of leftovers.  People are seriously amazing and even though they may not have wanted a baked good, they would still drop, $5, $10 or sometimes $20 into our donation bucket.

My favorite people that came through was a fire fighting team from Sacramento.  I’m not sure why they were down here since we don’t currently have any fires….?  I don’t remember what they were called, but they are the crazy ones that go into the back country and do the down and dirty forest fire fighting.  Anyhow, there were some mighty fine looking men in that group and a lot of them just dropped bills into our bucket without taking anything in return.  They were awesome.  Did I mention they were nice to look at?  Maybe I did…

I learned a few things doing this fund raiser.  People are amazing.

We did not have prices on anything (except the t-shirts, which we sold 2 of).  Everything went for a donation.  This is a great way to get more money for your cause.  By putting a price tag on something, then expect to get that price.  Say $1.oo for a cupcake.  But if you leave it open, then your customers will certainly rise to the occasion and more than likely they will give you more.  I think we averaged about $5 a treat, easy.

I had a great time baking and getting things ready.  I made some Bakerella Cake Pops, blondies, and peanut butter cupcakes.  We got some donations of chocolate chip cookies, zucchini bread, banana bread and no-bake coco cookies.  All this was in addition to our pink ducks, bracelets, candles and antenna toppers.

We needed a bigger table!

I was also just tickled pink (ha…pink) by the amount of compliments I got on our table display. Several people asked if we did catering! That’s actually something I’ve always loved doing so this made me happy.  Of course, everyone loved my Energizer Bunny and tried to buy him, too.

At the end of the day we made $340.00 towards the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure.  This was a lot less work and a lot more fun than busting our butts at our rummage sale last week.  We’ve decided we are going to do it again soon and have a breakfast table (that was the busiest time) with blueberry muffins and the like.

If you are in the Ramona, CA area please print the following flier and bring it to the Ramona Rubio’s this Wednesday, September 1st.  When you present the flier to the cashier they will donate 20% of your bill to our fund raising efforts.  The fund raiser is scheduled from 4pm to close, but I plan on being there at 6pm for dinner.  Come have dinner with me!

So, thank you to my friends and fellow Ramona residents that came out to see us on Saturday!  Stay tuned for details of our next fund raiser…we’ve still got a long way to go.
