I don’t know about you, but I grew up watching these fun and quirky holiday specials.  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town and Frosty the Snowman all bring back warm and fuzzy childhood memories.  I looked forward to them every year.  And when I had my own kids, I looked forward to sharing the shows with them, too.

In case you have somehow missed these classics (that have been around since the 60’s and 70’s), here is a little taste of what they are about:

My favorite of the collection is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer which is the story of Rudolph being born “different.”  It shows his life growing up with the other reindeer teasing him, so he runs away and ends up on the Island of Misfit Toys.  Here he meets many colorful characters and makes friends.  Through this adventure he overcomes the prejudices against him and eventually returns to the North Pole to save Christmas from a terrible storm.  The movie is narrated by Burl Ives and includes many favorite Holiday songs.

Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town shows how Kris Kringle came to live with the North Pole Elves and grow up to bring toys to a gloomy town.  Along the way he meets and marries Mrs. Claus and this classic shares the German beginnings of Christmas with lots of Holiday songs.  It’s narrated by Fred Astaire.

Who doesn’t know the story of Frosty the Snowman?  Jimmy Durante narrates this fun story of a magicians magic hat bringing the school yard snowman to life.  The story goes along the days of Frosty and the decisions the children make to keep him alive when the weather warms up.  It’s a sweet story that my boys love!

Also included in the Blu-Ray gift set is the story of Frosty Returns along with a holiday music CD with all of my kids’ favorite songs.

I think the Blu-ray version of these classic movies are fantastic!  The picture is real sharp and it makes these timeless classics that much better.  I’m so excited to have them in my collection so that my boys can enjoy them all year long.

The Original Christmas Classics retails for $44.95 and can be ordered online at  Amazon (which it’s currently on SALE for $29.49).  You can also visit ChristmasClassics.TV to share fond memories and relive the stories that you love.
