Gabriel’s favorite color is pink. He eats his cereal with a pink spoon out of a pink bowl. Up until he turned five years old he drank his chocolate milk out of a pink sippy cup. He always chooses the pink drinks, pink suckers and pink crayons. You can ask him any day what his favorite color is and he will tell you, “I like pink!”
Sometimes this seems to bother Bob. I guess it’s not “manly” to like pink. But Gabriel isn’t a man, he’s just a little boy. Learning to get around in this world and deciding what he likes and what he doesn’t like.
Today I went shopping with my mom and we stopped by Kohl’s. I had not planned on buying the boys anything and we were just wandering around keeping entertained while my mother shopped for what she needed. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a PINK Tshirt in the BOYS department. I nearly squealed! I was so excited to show Gabriel what I found, and do you know what he said when he saw it?
“Mommy, I love it! Thank you!”
That was enough for me.
He has asked for a pink shirt before, but being a little boy I never thought I would find one for him. This shirt is perfect. It’s pink, but has just enough skulls and guitars on it to make it “manly.” This is what it says:
5 Reasons I Wear Pink:
*I make this color look good!
*My mother made me wear it
*It’s a fashion statement
*Rock stars wear pink
And most of all…
I’m Tough Enough to Wear PINK!
Would you care if your boy wore pink? I mean, does it really matter?
