Have you ever had one of those days where you woke up super energetic and ready to take over the world? It doesn’t happen often, but today was one of those days. I was extremely excited since today is day 1 of my 21 Day Sugar Detox. I was anxious to make Green Apple Breakfast Sausage (the BOMB) and get some other stuff done for the week to make sticking to the plan easier when things get busy.
I can not tell you how delicious the Green Apple Breakfast Sausage from the 21 Day Sugar Detox book is! It was such a simple recipe and the kids just devoured it. I made a double batch so that I could freeze some and have them throughout the week.
After breakfast, I decided that I needed to make Simple Beef Jerky, also from the 21 Day Sugar Detox book.
I used a 2ish pound london broil and sliced it thin and let it marinate. I was excited to try making this in the oven since I don’t have a dehydrator and the cookbook listed instructions for cooking it in the oven. My house smells AMAZING! They will be out of the oven in about an hour and I can’t wait.
Then I did a few loads of laundry because, well….three boys. ’nuff said.
Last week I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and was put on antibiotics. Whenever I take antibiotics, I get secondary “girly infection” (trying to not go into details here!) that requires I eat yogurt. The only yogurt I have in the house is some store-bought, full of sugar variety. I started researching making my own yogurt and decided it didn’t “look that hard.”
So I piled the boys into the car and made a run down to my local whole foods store where I bought a half gallon of raw milk and some plain, organic yogurt to use as my “starter.” I found a few methods on Pinterest and between a few of them, figure out how to do it. I now have half a gallon of yogurt (hopefully) culturing on my counter. I’ll have to let you know how that ends up later, too. *crossing fingers*
Oy. I’m tired.
