Easter Picture Dump

By on Apr 10, 2012 in Holidays, Pictures | 3 comments

I’m skipping the “Wordless Wednesday” this week because, well…I have a ton of pictures to share and I have too much words to say to go along with them.  So instead of a Wordless Wednesday, I’m just having myself an Easter Picture Dump. This was the first time I really got to practice with my new 5omm camera lens.  I apologize if some of the shots focus on the chin, or ear, and not the subjects eyes (as it should be), but I have to say, I was (am) pretty tickled with the final results.  None of the pictures have been edited besides some cropping or resizing.  Perhaps with some more practice, I might actually get my moneys worth out of this fancy DSLR camera! The Day Before And they’re off!  My Aunt and Uncle hosted a fabulous Easter egg hunt.  The kids scored.  Huge. Love my Gabriel My mom and fabulous cousin, Lisa Haircut, Bob? Easter Morning The...

Do You Celebrate Lent?

By on Feb 21, 2012 in Holidays | 2 comments

I have never “celebrated” (observed?) Lent.  I honestly thought that it was something only the Catholic religion did and I remember thinking that my friend in high school was weird for giving something up since she wasn’t Catholic.  As I’ve gotten older and more knowledgeable, I realize that many Christian denominations observe Lent and the crazy fasting isn’t reserved for just one religion. Still, in my 3*cough*9 years, I’ve never celebrated it.  I do celebrate Easter and know all about the day’s leading up to Christ’s resurrection (Maundy Thursday is my most favorite service at church), I’ve just never given anything up for Lent. I am on quite a health kick lately and I gave up sugar for three weeks and I’ve given up all unhealthy carbs so I am revisiting Lent in my mind and wondering if I shouldn’t participate this...

Sweet Personalized Photo Valentines

This is not a new idea (I’m not that clever), and I have come across a few different versions on Pinterest and just LOVED how they turned out so I decided to make my own. I am THRILLED with the results and the boys had so much fun helping to make them.  They keep asking if it’s time to take them to school yet.  It is really very simple to create a fun, personalized and 3-D “ish” Valentine’s Day card for your kids’ classmates and even family.  Here is how I did mine: Take the kids outside and have them make a fist.  Take a gazillion pictures trying to find a half-way decent one to use (what’s up with five year old’s making silly faces in every.single.picture!?).  I told my boys to pretend them were giving me a sucker so they would hold their hand correctly. After I downloaded the pictures to my computer, I used Photoshop and...

What Did You Get For Christmas?

By on Dec 27, 2011 in Family Life, Holidays | 8 comments

This was a really great Christmas for us!  I know I’ve complained a lot about the trials of starting this new job, but getting that first paycheck on the Thursday before Christmas was a LIFESAVER!  I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun Christmas shopping having that disposable money to spend and knowing that I wasn’t taking food off of the table just for the sake of some presents. My kids are very fortunate to have their Grandma who spoils them to bits.  I almost think Grandma’s presents out-shined Santa’s! Each of the twins got a big Lego set, the LEGO City Fire Stationand the LEGO Police Station .  They’ve been asking for them since last Christmas and they were finally old enough to get them and actually build them mostly on their own.  Anthony’s big gift was a “real” (yet Anthony proof) digital camera, the Fujifilm...
